It's a little known fact that every once in a while Philip will break out his old Johnny Cash record and "jam". You see, the tradition started when Peter was a babe. We had little extra cash (for entertainment), the TV was stored in a closet and looked to music for fun. Peter took right too the tunes his daddy would play on the old record player and bring out the instruments. It has become a tradition for us. You might even say, this particular song has become a family theme song. Peter reminded me last week, that Nathan hasn't heard the old records in a long time. So without further ado....

Birthday fun
We celebrated Ryan's 4th birthday on a beautiful Saturday morning. I am learning to live with radical hospitality mostly to keep up with my husband. So when we began to talk about who to invite the list got longer and longer and longer! At last count we ended up with 45 folks on Saturday. It was a gorgeous day outside. I had suggested a friendly game of kickball as the main source of activity (and reason to keep everyone outside). Little did I realize how involved the dads would be.
I felt so loved and honored to have so many friends join us for the morning. My dear friend Cindy, decorated Ryan's cake! I would never have made it to Saturday morning with out her. Emma's birthday is not to far away so we'll have to see what happens in May!

Fresh Air
We gladly accepted the offer to meet with friends at the park to play a game of kickball. When our family is invited to play kick ball I can see at least one pro and a couple of cons. The pro is we bring 3 players.
The cons...well 3 year olds don't play kickball like 7 year olds!Five year olds have a hard time finding the bases and get too emotional involved.
It was so great to spend the weekend with Philip's parents. They came to celebrate an early birthday for Ryan.

New look
We spent the day with friends and Emma came home with a new way to "dress" up!
This was her first experience with "make-up". They had fun putting it on. I think it lasted on their faces for maybe 5 minutes.
We've had a trying week to say the least! I decided (based on the recommendation of my trusted Pediatrician) that I should "pull the plug". I took Nathan's paci away Sunday night. He's done much better than I could have expected. However, the withdraw issues along with some major "teething" stuff lead to an interesting week.
